The Serengeti
Our last stop of the safari was Northern Serengeti. Our accommodation was the luxurious Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp, which is located next to Grumeti River, home to resident hippos. We could hear them anytime day or night. Our tent was surrounded by its own 360 degree veranda deck.
Upon our arrival at the airport, the guide spotted a wildebeast migration. We were so lucky to be able to witness this. The guide said there were probably 3000 in this herd. We noticed that there were some zebras as well. Since wildebeast have poor eyesight, the zebras come along to help them out. Love how nature works together like that. We had lovely late day light as we drove to our camp site.
We experienced an early morning balloon safari over the plains. We were awake by 3:30 am and up in the air by 6 am. The early morning light was spectacular. After the balloon safari, we were treated to a champagne breakfast and then went on a game drive where we experienced lots of lions and another wildebeast migration.
Our last dinnner experience in Serengeti was lovely, complete with a beautiful sunset and an outdoor barbecue under the stars. The background music was the hippo grunts. We had one last game drive on our way back to the airport , which is when we finally saw a leopard! A very fitting end to a photographer's paradise.
